In an effort to focus the community on the needs of the Animal Shelter for creation of green space, fencing, canopy & landscaping , the Friends have united to start fund raising and doing educational programs at the Farmers Markets each week.

The kick off item to raise funds is a commerative laser printed brick by Imprint in Time of Jasper which will be used as a part of the entrance to the office at the shelter. This is seen as a way for donors to see the number of beloved pets, living & deceased, which make us all want to see only the best outcome for all animals. Even though this is not a no kill shelter, more animals can be adopted than euthanized if we work together to educate owners about neutering/spaying, protection for animals against ticks, fleas, mosquitoes which cause disease & sometimes death, and how to network to adopt animals.

This will be a part of that welcoming entrance that will be created. Bricks are $40.00 per pet. The logo of the shelter will be on the left with information to be decided by owner on the right. Visit the Farmers Market to see the brick up close. The Master Gardeners are planning the exterior “greening”. Soon, what you see in the picture will not be the look you see when you visit.

One part of the Friends will be working to raise funds for costs for medical needs while another group of us will be working toward the exterior needs for the animals. We will have a cost list soon to share specific cost items. Donations of any amount are always welcomed.

Please stop by the Animal Shelter of Pickens County located on Camp Road in Jasper and visit with Cindy Wilson & staff. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12 noon until 3 p.m. Let people know about the animals and the shelter plans. Plan to adopt whenever you can. We always need volunteers.
