Mr. David Winfield Holmes age 87 of Jasper, Ga. passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Wildwood Health Care Facility.
Mr. Holmes was born on July 9, 1926 in Pickens County. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. For many years he ran a clothing store in Jasper. He was a proud member of the VFW, Pickens Star Lodge, and Pleasant Hill Christian Church.

Survivors include sons & daughter-in-law, Ronnie Holmes, Donnie & Susan Holmes, daughter & son-in-law, Gwen & Tommy Chumley, brother-in-law, Paul Qualls, grandchildren, Sam Holmes, David Holmes, Alison & Mark Adams, Joe & Alicia Chumley, several nieces, nephews & other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Holmes, parents, David & Emma Holmes, & 9 brothers & sisters.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Thursday, July 25, 2013 form 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Mock officiating, with interment to follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Jasper First Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, or Ga. Mountains Hospice.
