Man Shot Near Jasper in Dispute

An early morning shooting outside of Jasper left one man dead Sunday. Details are sketchy at this point as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Pickens County Sheriff’s Department work to clear up exactly what happened.A residence near Highway 108 was the scene of a 9-1-1 call Sunday morning in which a man was reported as being shot after a possible dispute with the homeowner. At 12:45 a.m. dispatch received the call. Upon arrival Scott Terrell of Cherokee County was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest according to Sheriff Donnie Craig. He related that Terrell was pronounced deceased at the scene by ambulance personnel.

As the agencies work the case, they expect more details to emerge regarding the situation and will relay them as they become available.
