Rand Paul and the Press
Opinion April 10, 2015
Opinion by George McClellan:I had not intended yet, to direct any comments for or against any of our GOP Presidential hopefuls but this Rand Paul business, i.e.: his defense to the interview questions by a liberal female member of the Commentariate, Samantha Guthrie, has raised the hackles of leftist newsmakers everywhere and begs a response to the question: has this confrontation helped or harmed Rand Paul’s campaign? Or, is this Paul’s version of the war on women?
My answer is “no”, not even! Why? because conservative Americans are sick and bloody tired of the leftist media trying to define us by setting the parameters of who they think we should be, as revealed by Samantha Guthrie, all with the intention of achieving a “gotcha” moment.
Like Scott Walker, Rand Paul does not intend to be compartmentalized by the left. Apparently, the left is in a quandary over losing ground on their view of the GOP’s alleged War on Women. Rand Paul’s handling of Guthrie simply provided them another avenue of attack. The “war on women” of course, is a democrat invention and Rand Paul refused to rise to the bait by even venturing into that arena without setting his own rules for engagement and changing hers. Oh, the heresy! We like that in our candidates. Like Newt a few years ago, Paul set a new standard.
Rand Paul, like Scott Walker, is a fighter. So far, I see no complaints that any comments made by Carly Fiorina on the incompetency of Hillary Rodham Clinton, has suffered any such admonishment from the leftist press. At least not yet because she is the woman they now fear. If Carly does become our candidate, either for President or Vice-President, then we know the leftist press will move heaven and earth to destroy her like they did Sarah Palin.
Rand Paul, whether one agrees with his Libertarian philosophy or not, is outspoken, something sorely lacking from the long entrenched GOP careerists who cling to John Boehner’s, Mitch McConnell’s and Karl Roves version of staying the course for big government. We want fighters. We want someone capable of verbally destroying Hillary in a head to head debate. Rand Paul can easily do that. Well, so can the others but we’re talking about Rand Paul now.
The left knows that Hillary can’t sustain a defense of her miserable work history highlighted by a lack of accomplishments, hence the breathless attacks directed to Rand Paul to try to knock him off the rails. I’m proud of Rand Paul’s self-defense. The left have no other response to the truth and so other leftists rag presenters feel the desperate need to press their attack on conservative candidates even with their nonsensical war on women claims. It simply won’t do anymore!
Make no mistake. We are in a war with Marxist progressivism, disguised as Liberalism, wrapped in the cloak of the democrat party, being fed to us as socialism of the fascist variety, as versus the constitutionalism that our original founders intended. This is not hard to understand.
For the past several Presidential seasons, televised debates have been hosted by illuminaries of the far left media organs, ABC, NBC, & CBS. Their declining viewership suggests they needn’t be there at all because their questions are always designed to support progressives, like Obama, and make GOP candidates look foolish. In John McCain’s case it was probably true but not so with a proven successful businessman like Mitt Romney. Rand Paul is right!
If we are to accept Harry Reid’s freely made lies on Mitt Romney’s tax status, then cheating and lying are the acceptable new norms for democrat political campaigning. Remember, freedom is the goal, the constitution is the way. Now, go get ’em! (9 April 2015)
