Virginia Claudine Prather, age 83, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016.  She was born February 5, 1933 to Arthur and Ella Fountain Childers.

Mrs. Prather is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janice Prather of Canton, Terry and Diana Prather of Ranger, Garry and Ann Prather of Jasper, Ryan and Rebecca Prather of Jasper; brother, Bob Childers of Canton; sister, Betty Spencer of Calhoun; eight grandchildren; and12 great-grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Prather; grandson, Michael Scott Prather; and great-granddaughter, Mia Prather.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Travis Childers and Reverend Corey Rich officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at Roper Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m.until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
