Wayne VanValkenburgh, age 88, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at his home. Wayne was born January 31, 1929 to Fay and Lottie VanValkenburgh in Warren, Arkansas. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Louise VanValkenburgh of Jasper; children, Steven Wayne and Kathy VanValkenburgh of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Kathryn G. Thompson of Acworth, Blake A. VanValkenburgh of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Billy VanValkenburgh, Steven M. VanValkenburgh, Alex Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Lauren VanValkenburgh, Anna VanValkenburgh; great-granddaughter, Eliza Johnson. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Lillian Johnson.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Jasper United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Meadows officiating. The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Mr. VanValkenburgh will be cremated after the funeral service and his cremains will be interred at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
