The Citizen of the Year Award was created to heighten public awareness and appreciation of the many people who work, often behind the scenes, to better the community’s quality of life. While these people are not fueled by a desire for civic recognition, their efforts, whether aimed at protecting our environment, beautifying neighborhoods, increasing local opportunities for youth, or raising money for various worthy projects, all demonstrate an exceptional level of citizenship.
