Senator David Perdue campaigned in Jasper at Appalachian Gun and Pawn today.  With temperatures in the upper 30’s the candidate didn’t miss a beat nor were supporters discouraged by the weather with evidence of the number of people in attendance. The campaign bus pulled in right on time at 1:15 p.m.

The first Cousin of the Senator, United States Secretary of Agriculture and former Governor of Georgia Sonny Perdue opened the rally with supporting remarks.

David Alfred Perdue Jr was born on December 10, 1949, in Macon, Georgia. He is an American businessman and politician. A member of the republican party, he has served as the Senior United States Senator since 2015. He is running against opponent Jon Ossoff in the January 5 runoff election.

Republicans have made significant gains in the house. While there are moderate democrats in the house, there are still questions as to which ones if any will cross the aisle.

As Senator Perdue took center stage at The Appalachian Gun and Pawn Store, he started his speech by expressing this was the first time he had stood on a tree stump as a podium. His words were brief, but his message was clear, “Win Georgia, Save America by protecting our borders and defending our police force.”  He quoted former President Ronald Reagan stating,  “Freedom is never more than one generation away.” He went on to say that we should not give up and that everyone should come out and vote on January 5th, “Our freedom and future of this country depends upon this election.”

Owner of Appalachian Gun and Pawn Ralph Fitts was happy to host the event. When asked what his motivation was to hold the rally at his business establishment he expressed “It is a pleasure. I am a business owner and I like freedom. When something needs fixing, I do it. It’s my job.”

With Democrats and Republicans vying for the Senatorial position, campaigning continues on both sides. Next stop for The Perdue Campaign, Union, and Hiawassee for December 8th.
