Athletes Make Waves at Marble Dragon Triathlon

The Marble Dragon Triathlon was held in Jasper at Roper Park on Saturday morning, giving some of the most talented athletes in the local area a chance to show off their skills in regards to swimming, biking, and running.
The event started with a swim in the Pickens County Rec Department’s pool, which consisted of each swimmer shifting into the adjacent lane after each completed lap until the swimmer had successfully swam a lap in all of the pool’s lanes.

Once the swimming portion of the triathlon was over, the athletes then jumped on their bikes and headed down Refuge Road, where they would complete two laps that would cover of a total of eight miles.

With two of the three legs of the triathlon now completed, the participants then set their sights on the walking trail that surrounds Roper Park for two laps, leaving just over two miles from finishing the race.

The first runner to cross the finish line was #187 Billy Fletcher, who finished with a time of 48:27. The rest of the results are available below:

The five-race triathlon series now has four races left for the year, including the rescheduled North Georgia Super Sprint in Dawsonville on June 23rd, the Chopped Oak Super Sprint in Clarkesville on July 14th, the East Cobb Super Sprint in Marietta on August 10th, and the Bootlegger Super Sprint in Dawsonville on September 8th.
