Lady Warriors Slay Dragonettes
Team FYN Sports December 30, 2010
In the second day of the Pickens Holiday Classic, the home team Dragonettes took on the Lady Warriors of North Cobb, and fell 53-30.The Lady Warriors began the game jumping out to a 5-2 advantage over the Dragonettes. The visiting team’s full court press was simply too much for the home team to handle. The Dragonettes turned the ball over repeatedly, while the Lady Warriors used those turnovers to get easy transition baskets.
After the 5-5 tie, the Lady Warriors used a 9-0 run to build a 14-5 advantage, which held until Megan Womack hit a three pointer to pull the Dragonettes within six points. A put back rebound pushed the lead back up to eight, but Jazmine Gloss hit a jumper at the buzzer to cut North Cobb’s lead to 16-10 going into the second quarter.

North Cobb scored two straight buckets within the first 47 seconds of the quarter to increase the lead to 10. It did not get much better for the home team from that point. The Lady Warriors continued to route the Dragonettes as they out scored their hosts 23-6 in the quarter to leave the half up 39-16.
North Cobb’s Jarae Savage, was down right uncivilized as she went coast to coast more than Southwest Airlines. She finished with, a game high 19 points, and tied for the game high of 9 rebounds with teammate Kira Gordon. Amber Reeves, of North Cobb, was the game’s only other double digit scorer with 16. Gloss had the high score for Pickens with seven.
The second half saw more of the home team struggling to score, while the visitors backed of the press and went to the bench players. With the Lady Warriors fully in control with a 51-21 lead going into the fourth quarter, the clock was shortened for the fourth quarter.
