Rev. Lewis Milton “Buddy” Gibson, age 83, of Pine Log, Georgia, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, in Pickens County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born September 28, 1928 in Maryville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Milt Gibson and Annie Mae Sutton Gibson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Burgess Gibson and a son, Kenneth Gibson. Rev. Gibson has worked as a machinist at Lockheed-Martin in Marietta, Georgia. He was ordained into the ministry in 1961, had been a member of the Blaine Masonic Lodge # 534 F.& A.M for over 20 years and was a member of the Pleasant Olive Baptist Church
He is survived by his Wife, Pauline “Polly” Mauldin Gibson, Pine Log, Ga.; Daughter & Son-In-Law, Cindi and Greg Lowe, of Jasper, Ga.; Grandson, Chase Lowe, of Jasper, Ga.; Brother & Sister-In-Law, Billy and Kathleen Gibson, of Maryville, Tenn.; Several Nieces, Nephews and Other Relatives also survive.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2011, at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Harold Garrett, Rev. Greg Fairist and Rev. Jim Baucom will officiate, with the interment to follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Gilmer County with Masonic Graveside Rites. Those serving as pallbearers were, Mr. Rodney Gibson, Mr. Jack Nalley, Mr. Billy Mauldin, Mr. Dwight Holcomb, Mr. Dwayne Garrett and Mr. Jeff Wright.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, all day on Thursday and until the funeral hour on Friday.
Flowers are accepted, however, donations may be made to Jasper Chapter O.E.S. # 479.
