At the inaugural 2012 Jasper City Council Meeting, Jasper City Mayor and council members took their oaths of office. In November, Mayor John Weaver, Jim Looney, Tony Fountain, and John Foust were reelected to their current offices. At the January city council meeting, the quartet was sworn in by Municipal Court Judge James T. Johnson. Hand on Bible, all four officials took their oath of office before the Judge and all in attendance.

Following the swearing in, the Mayor and council made their 2012 appointments. Jim Looney was once again appointed to his 2011 position of Mayor Pro Tem, while John Foust and Jim Looney were reappointed to the Budget Committee. John Fountain was appointed to the Water Committee, and Allison Brown to Public Safety. John Foust and Ann Morrow were appointed to the Street and Parks Committee. Martha Poole was the only member of the Planning and Zoning Committee up for reappointment. As such, Poole was reappointed to that position. Marty Callahan and Chuck Payne were reappointed to the Downtown Development Authority, while Kirk Garner, Mike Denson, and Marty Callahan were reappointed to the Tree Board. Larry Johnson was reappointed to the Housing Authority.
