Mrs. Sybil Thompson Underwood, age 82, of Big Canoe, Jasper, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Heritage Health Care in Jasper, Georgia following a period of declining health.

Born August 19, 1929 in Hall County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Emory Thompson and Mary Gertrude Leach Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Edgar Underwood and a sister, Opal Thompson Harper. Mrs. Underwood had worked as an administrative assistant with the American Insurance Company in Sandy Springs, Georgia and attended the
Big Canoe Chapel in Big Canoe.

Survivors include, STEP-SONS & SPOUSES, John Underwood, of Atlanta, Ga.; Bruce Underwood (Penny), of Alpharetta, Ga.; Vin Underwood (Judy Thomas), of Alpharetta, Ga.; STEP-GRANDCHILDREN, Stephanie Underwood, of Marietta, Ga.; Rosemary Underwood, of Cumming, Ga.; Eliza Underwood and April Underwood, both of Atlanta, Ga.; NIECE & NEPHEWS & SPOUSES, Jan Opal Harper Waters; James Harper (Emily); John Harper (Mary); GREAT- NIECES & NEPHEWS, James Harper, III, Jason Harper, Adam McDaniel, Susan Harper, Sarah Harper, Brandon Waters and Jared Waters.

At her request, Mr. Underwood was cremated. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at the Big Canoe Chapel, Big Canoe, Georgia, the Rev. Lamar Helms will officiate.
