Weyman Falls Short at State Tournament

The Pickens Dragons’ wrestling season came to a close when JT Weyman’s bid to place in the 126lbs weight class ended in a consolation quarterfinals match of the AAA state tournament, held at the Gwinnet Arena Civic Center. Weyman’s opponent, Brady McCollum of Gilmer High School, went on to place sixth.Weyman, featured in an exclusive FYN Sports interview, https://pickens.fetchyournews.com/archives/1437-J.T.-Weyman-Reflects-on-Upcoming-Trip-to-State.html was the Pickens High School Dragons’ sole competitor in the tournament. The Dragon caught fire early, winning his first round match up with Anthony Wesley of West Lauren. Weyman lost in the second round where he fell to the consolation bracket for a chance at third place.
Weyman got hot again in the “wrestle backs” winning his first two match ups before facing the aforementioned McCollum. Weyman finished with three wins in the tournament; however, fell one victory short of a guaranteed placing.
