Mr. Joseph Gomes Ramilo, age 86, of Jasper, Georgia, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at his residence, following a period of declining health.

Born August 25, 1925 in Portugal, he was the son of the late, Joao Gomes Ramilo and Laurinda Gomes Ramilo. Mr. Ramilo worked in the world trade industry.

Mr. Ramilo is survived by his wife Maria Ramilo, of Jasper, Georgia, his Daughters, Laurinda Otero (Gil), of Jasper, Georgia, and Lygia Eicher (Mark), of Boston, MA., Grandchildren, Damari Upton (Michael), Jamie Almonte (Joshua Doherty), Gilbert J. Otero (Jennifer), Michael Otero (Elizabeth), Kristin Eicher, and Emma Eicher, Great-Grandchildren, Shailey Wetmore, Matthew Upton, Thomas Wetmore, Isabel Upton, Alaina Upton, Gabrielle Wetmore, Brayden Wetmore, James Wesley Otero, and Raphael Otero. Several Nieces, Nephews, and other Relatives also survive,

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles Byrd will officiate. A reception will immediately follow the Memorial Service at Roper Funeral Home.
