Featured Stories, Politics

I, David W. Lindsey, would like to announce my intention to run for election for the position of Probate Judge of Pickens County in 2012.If elected, I plan to continue the excellence, the quality of service and the efficient administration of justice that the public has come to expect. I plan to offer integrity, accountability and experience to the bench and to guarantee that the courtroom is a level playing field every day in every case with no exceptions. I pledge to be a judge of whom every citizen in Pickens County will be proud and to make sure we have a judicial system that lives up to the expectations of the people of Pickens County.

I grew up in Jasper, Ga., and graduated from Pickens High in 1989. I earned an English degree from the University of Georgia in 1993 and in 1996 I graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law. I then returned to Pickens County and served two years as law clerk in the Appalachian Judicial Circuit for Judge Brenda S. Weaver and Judge Bobby C. Milam. From 1998 until the present I have engaged in the general practice of law based in Jasper and Canton. During my 15 years as an attorney, I have regularly handled all types of cases in courts throughout north Georgia and have particularly focused a large part of my practice on wills, trusts, estates and guardianships; therefore, I am uniquely qualified to act as probate judge. I have served as the city attorney for the City of Ellijay since 1999 and am currently the public defender for the City of Jasper. I am the son of Tom and Susan Lindsey and reside in Jasper with my wife Marie and our two children, Carter, 10, and Sophie, 1. We are members of the Jasper United Methodist Church.

I ask for your vote and will appreciate any and all help that you may give me during this upcoming campaign. I pledge to do my best to uphold the qualifications and responsibilities of the office of Probate Judge. Thank you for your support.
