My name is Robert “Rob” P. Jones , and I am announcing my candidacy for Commission Chairman of Pickens County.
To serve as a two term Sole Commissioner of Pickens County has been an honor. The relationships I have made, along with the progress that I have achieved in the last seven years, is an accomplishment that I am proud of.

Some of those items include:
Completion of new construction and paying off the jail.
Renovation of the old hospital to house all administrative services, a building
that will serve the tax payers for 30+ years.
Upgrades of the 911 center.
Instituting Code Red.
Establishing the first paid fire fighters in our county along with the new Station 11.
Upgrades of our ambulance service.
The construction and operation of Pickens County Animal Shelter.
The new Community Center at Roper Park, which opened December 2011.
The renovation and addition of our Court House, which is under construction.
The extensions of water lines and construction of water tanks.
Reducing the number of employees by attrition or retirement.

We are a county not having to implement furloughs to balance the budget. Lets not forget the debt and millage rate that is one of the lowest in the state.

If elected as Commission Chairman, the major issue that I am facing is the implementation of the new form of government for the citizens of Pickens County. It will be my job to ensure a smooth and successful transition for all involved.
