Obituaries

Rev. Von Hinton age 84 of Jasper who passed away Monday morning at the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was born September 20, 1928 in Laurel, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Evans H. Hinton and Anabelle Freeman Hinton. Rev. Hinton graduated from the New Orleans Seminary and served his country in the U S Navy. He was a member of the Jasper First Baptist Church, served as Chaplain for the Local Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans, and was the founding President of the Jasper Optimist Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Whitfield Hinton.

Survivors include: Daughters & Sons-in-law: Diana Hinton, Waleska, Robin & Keith Brooks, Jasper, Nancy & Mark Board, Savannah, Son & Daughter-in-law: Mark & Debbie Hinton, Jasper Sister & Brother-in-law:
Mabel & Ken Rich, Richston, MS, Brother & Sister-in-law: Elliott & Anise Hinton, Houston, TX, 3 Grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Service will be 11 AM Wednesday at the Jasper First Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Lewis and Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. The interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with local chapter #47 DAV in charge of military honors.

The family will accept flowers or those who desire may make contributions to the Jasper First Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Jasper Optimist Club.

The family will be recieving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Monday and Tuesday from 5-8 PM.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Staff at Roper Funeral Home & Crematory.
