FYN has learned that Talking Rock Mayor Peter Cagle suffered a stroke yesterday. He is currently hospitalized in Atlanta and his condition is unclear.

Town Clerk Carol Opdenhoff said that since the council met last week, all immediate plans within the city of Talking Rock are already in place including all arrangements for Heritage Days at the end of this month (October 19-20). She stated that mayor pro-tem Espey Smith will be handling any mayoral duties should they arise until Cagle’s condition is better known or he is able to return to work.

FYN will continue efforts to ascertain Cagle’s condition and update when more information is available.
