The Long Table on Main Raises $50,000 will Repeat in 2014
Announcements November 5, 2013
Due to the response of those who attended and requests from those who missed out, Prevent Child Abuse Pickens (PCAP) has announced that The Long Table on Main 2014 will be held on October 11th, 2014. It was quotes such as “Perfect, just perfect. There is nothing that could have been improved on” by Deb Homer and “Thank you for a beautiful evening… I look forward to attending again” by Kathe Hall that convinced PCAP to do it again.
Margy Lohman, Executive Director of PCAP, exclaimed ‘the generosity of the people and businesses of the Jasper area never ceases to amaze me. I’ve been doing this for 19 years, but this year was incredible. When people saw how devastated we were when the state grant ran out, they just stepped up to the plate. We had over 40 individuals and businesses as sponsors or donated items for the live auction.’
‘The event raised nearly $50,000 allowing us to provide Parents as Teacher services to additional at-risk families. PCAP pledges to continue its efforts to eventually move the remaining 40 at-risk families from our current waiting list to active services’ Margy continued.

“I am so proud of this board” exclaimed Connie Stevens, PCAP Board President. “They conceived and flawlessly executed this plan in less than three months. Passionate people, dedicated to the children of Pickens County, can move mountains. And they did.”
Creating an elegant venue in 4 hours right down the middle of Main Street and serving a spectacular dinner to 150 people is a herculean task. We are extremely grateful to the small army of volunteers and the staff of Coast2Coast Catering who pulled it off’ concluded Jena Finley, Event Chair.
