Mr. James Walter Erwin, age 78 of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at his residence.
Born December 1, 1934 in Shellman, Georgia, he was the son of the late James Robert Erwin and Maudie Trippe Erwin. Mr. Erwin was an engineering geologist with the Army Corp of Engineers, having retired in 1990 in Atlanta after 32 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran and was a member of the Jasper United Methodist Church.

Survivors include, HIS WIFE OF 56 YEARS, Harriett Erwin of Talking Rock, Georgia and Deland, Florida ; SONS & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, James Walter Erwin, Jr. of Warwick, N.Y.; Chris and Laurie Erwin of Homer, Ga.; Steve Erwin of Woodstock, Ga.; GRANDCHILDREN, Sydney Erwin of Greenwich, CT.; James Erwin, III of Greenville, S.C.; Christopher Erwin of Woodstock, Ga.; Courtney Erwin of Homer, Ga.; Montana Erwin of Cumming, Ga.; BROTHER-IN-LAW & SPOUSE, Ron and Linda Bell of Talking Rock, Ga.; Other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Jasper United Methodist Church, Rev. Chip Wilson will officiate with the interment to follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, on Sunday, November 17, 2013, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Flowering are being accept, however, the family request donations to Jasper United Methodist Church, 85 W. Church St., Jasper, Georgia 30143 or to Georgia Mountains Hospice, 70 Caring Way, Jasper, Georgia 30143.

Arrangements and Services have been entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory of Jasper, Georgia.
