Sherry Stamper Potts of Jasper, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the age of 66, due to complications from a recent surgery. She was at North Fulton Regional Hospital in Roswell, Georgia at her time of passing. Sherry Joyce Stamper was born on December 18, 1946 in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late William Joseph Stamper and Flora Belle “Boots” Stamper. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jason Joseph “J.J.” Payne. Her father was in the Navy and they lived in many different places during her childhood, including Hawaii, which she talked about often. She attended Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi and went on to the Mississippi State College for Women, majoring in Art. As an adult, she was a wonderful mother to three children and a loving “Mimi” to six grandchildren. She was also very active; she was an avid, accomplished ALTA tennis player and she loved to play golf as well. She was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain; she also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and her girlfriends. She had many wonderful friends in their Bent Tree community in Jasper, GA and she also loved spending time at their second home in Cocoa Beach, FL.

She is survived by her beloved husband Robert “Bob” Potts of Jasper, GA, her daughter Tiffany Eppinette of Alpharetta, GA, her son Alex Payne of Canton, GA, her stepson and daughter-in-law David and Melissa Potts of Woodstock, GA, and her stepson and daughter-in-law Mike and Lisa Potts of Acworth, GA. She is also survived by her six cherished grandchildren: Josh (age 19), Olivia (age 15), Nicholas (age 17), Nicole (age 14), Tyler (age 9), and Abigail (age 4).

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Snyder Turner will officiate with a reception immediately following the Services. Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Cheatham Hills Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Hwy., S.E., Marietta, Georgia 30064.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Calvary Children’s Home, 1430 Lost Mountain Rd., Powder Springs, Ga. 30127.
