Mrs. Juanita Stancil Jones, age 88 of Jasper, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at her residence, following a period of declining health.
Born September 16, 1925 in Jasper, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late George Tilman Stancil and Jodia Hembree Stancil. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alden Lee Jones. She was the first of her family to graduate high school. She worked for the Marietta Telephone Company and later married Alden Lee Jones on July 26, 1946. They were married until Alden’s death on November 7th, 1998. She was a long time member of the Jasper First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Progressive Sunday School Class. Juanita was also a member of Baptist Women and Women on Mission Group. She loved God, she loved her family, she loved to read and she loved fine food. She was a shy, quiet woman with a very generous heart!
Survivors include, her two daughters, Leigh Jones Garrett and Judi Carol Jones and grandchildren, Dr. Shanda Blackmon (Matt), Lance Haley (Jessica) , Todd Whiddon (Elizabeth) and Tyler Whiddon; Nine Great-Grandchildren also survive.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rev. David Stuart will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 3, 2014, 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 233 Peachtree St., Suite 2225, Atlanta, Georgia 30303 or to the Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, 175 Samaritan Dr., Jasper, Georgia 30143.
