FYN was on the scene of a structure fire that consumed the home of a couple on the west end of Pickens County. Although the couple was home, both escaped without injury.The home was located near the intersection of Matthews Road and White Pine Crossover. The couple’s daughter (who wished to remain anonymous) was at the home and advised FYN her parents are devastated but okay.

Pickens County Fire Investigator Curtis Clark said the cause of the fire hasn’t been determined but they do know it started in the basement. Once the fire spread and shattered the basement windows, the wind-driven flames quickly consumed the home. Even with fire personnel still on-scene it has been determined a total loss.
