October 24, 1943 – August 11, 2014. Harry Gray Gordon passed away surrounded by his family at his home in the North Georgia Mountains after a courageous two and a half year battle with cancer.
Born in Mobile, Alabama, Gray was a graduate of Murphy High School class of 1961. He earned a BS in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University (War Eagle!) and an MS in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. Because of his strong commitment to serving his country, Gray voluntarily enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and served as a captain. During his 36-year career in the phosphate industry, Gray specialized in building industrial and community relationships. He enjoyed a variety of leadership roles in the Tampa Bay and greater Florida communities and retired as a VP of Public Affairs with Mosaic Fertilizer.

Gray and his wife of 49 years, JoAnne, were high school sweethearts who enjoyed retirement in Orange Beach, AL and North Georgia near their daughters’ families.

Gray is preceded in death by his parents Harry Albert Gordon and Cora Gray Church Gordon. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Lancaster Gordon; two daughters, Sheryl Davis and her husband Drew, Andrea White and her husband Andrew; five grandchildren; one brother, Barry Gordon and his wife Beth; and one aunt, Betty Allen and her husband Davis.

Two services will be held. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 24, 2014, 3:00 pm at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 57 Kingdom Dr., Jasper, GA. A second celebration service will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church.
