Last Thursday on the diamond, the Pickens High School Dragonettes hosted the Lady Panthers of Ridgeland in a region matchup at Nettes Field. The Lady Panthers pounced on the “Nettes,” taking a 3-1 win.Sr., Kayla Howard started for the “Nettes” as they tried to pick up a region win. It was tight early on and the “Nettes” would strike first on a suicide squeeze in the bottom of the third to take a 1-0 lead.

The Panthers, however, would comeback in the top of the fourth with a two-run bomb to take a lead 2-1. The Panthers tacked on a late run in the top half of the 7th and shut down the “Nettes” in the bottom of the frame to head back to Ridgeland with the 3-1 victory.

The “Nettes” had 5 hits in the ball game and some fine defensive plays as well. Howard pitched a complete game but came away with the tough loss. Howard’s line on the night would be 7 IP, 3 R, & 6H.

The “Nettes” will be back in action this Tuesday the 26th as they travel to take on the Bruins of Northwest Whitfield then back home on the 28th to host the Purple Hurricanes of Cartersville. First pitch for both games are scheduled for 5:55pm.
