Dragons Fall to North Hall 0-2 in First Round of State Playoffs

The Pickens High School Dragons baseball team traveled to North Hall High School to take on the Trojans in the first round of the State Tournament Playoffs. The Dragons was not hot enough, as the Trojans took both games completing the 2-0 sweep.Game one began with the Dragons coming out hot, as Walker Lawrence scored Tyler Garner with an RBI double early; however, the Trojans bounced back with four runs in the first two innings, and three more before Pickens picked up another run in the top of the fifth, via an RBI sac ground out from Zach Hermann that scored Zach Moore. Game one ended with the Trojans winning 7-2.

Game two saw the Dragons again heat up early, as back to back second inning RBI singles from Wyatt Gooch and Zach Moore that scored Dalton Presley and Walker Lawrence respectively, put Pickens in front 2-0 going into the third.

The Trojans once again bounced back with a vengeance, scoring eight unanswered runs, before Cameron Gregory’s seventh inning RBI sac fly scored Moore for the game’s final run. North Hall won game two 8-3 and the series 2-0.
