Pickens County Chamber Annual Picnic in the Park

Business, Community, Featured Stories

The Pickens County Chamber Membership Picnic was held June 9th at Lee Newton Park. The Annual picnic was sponsored by Stearns Bank and Dough Boys Cakes & Catering. The theme this year was Hotdogs Paradise and chamber members were encouraged to wear their Hawaiian shirts and funny grass skirts – leis were provided. Sponsors, Stearns Bank and Dough Boys treated everyone to a delicious dinner! A large crowd enjoyed the evening at the park with several fun games. The food and games were great and hopeful raffle ticket holders for Cow-A-Bunga, waited patiently until the end or should we say “Until the cows came home,” or rather marked their spot.

The tickets were sold out for the “Cow-A-Bunga” raffle and the cows were in no hurry. The cow in corral #1 made Dough Boys (Mike DeGolier and Jeff Bennett) big winners. Finally at 10:10pm the cow in corral # 2 decided to end the suspense and Mrs. Freda Miller (Denise Duncan’s mother) was the lucky winner. Denise later posted,

“I don’t think I would have been any happier if I had won! She’s supported every event I’ve had at the Chamber since I began 8 years ago!”

It was a wonderful evening and the weather was great!
