The Pickens County Chamber of Commerce Business Advocacy Council offered a two in one workshop titled “Selling Naked/Fish-On Marketing”. The workshop was presented by Patrick H. McGaughey, CPF, IOM, an international business speaker with a background of professional success in broadcasting and business association management. His early success in broadcasting was the foundation for Pat’s successes as a business association executive where he led three Chambers of Commerce to membership and financial success. In Idaho, his Chamber of Commerce broke the 1,000 member barrier in a community of 24,000, and his annual events drew crowds of over 900 people, proving that you can be big in any size community.

When discussing sales, Mr. McGaughey went over ideas for attendees such as new attitudes and confidence for effective salesmanship, how great questions outsell great brochures, how to learn how to rely upon yourself to make a sale and the importance of learning how to make the sale before the presentation. Mr. McGaughey went through several exercises explaining how “Fish on! Marketing” improves sales skills while attracting business!

The host sponsor was Chattahoochee Technical College and all attendees were treated to a delicious breakfast served by our breakfast sponsor Carriage House Coffee Shop.

A special thank you goes to our Premier sponsor of the event, Prestige Medical Group. With their sponsorship, half price scholarships were given to all attendees with additional discounts to multiple attendees of the same company. Prestige Medical Group started in Jasper with a single location primary care office in 2004, and then added Oasis Medspa adjoining the primary care office in 2006. Services were expanded to Cherokee County when their office opened in 2010 followed by their weight loss center in 2012. The latest location to open was in Gilmer County, in the summer of 2013.

Prestige Medical Group is an active member of all three communities. Staff from each office volunteer to provide medical services such as sports physicals for middle schools and high school students as well as support numerous non-profit organizations in each county. The goal of owner and founder of Prestige Medical Group has always been “Exceptional medical care and this will always be the number one priority for me, my practice and my staff.”
