From Jelani Downing, Coordinator of Cooperate Communications for the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club and Phillips Arena, the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta chapter of ColorComm have announced plans to host a “Minority Women in Sports PR.”

It will be a panel discussion featuring well known women in the world of professional sports communications. This event, will be open to the public and will be from 6:30-8 p.m. next Tuesday, Sept. 15th inside Phillips Arena’s Center Club. Participating will be high-ranking officials from the Hawks, Phillips Arena, FOX Sports South, and Turner Sports.

Nzinga Shaw, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer of the Atlanta Hawks & Phillips arena stated:

“The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club is excited to partner with ColorComm to host this event. There is much-needed dialouge surrounding issues of women and minorities in sports and we are grateful to have a platform to facilitate a powerful dicussion.”

The event will be moderated by TV & Radio personality Rashan Ali, and panelists will include Tara August the VP of Talent Relations for Turner Sports, Rolanda Gaines the Director of Marketing and Communications for FOX Sports South, and Nzinga Shaw.

Ashli Bobo, Executive Director of ColorComm Atlanta was quoted as saying:

“The ‘Minority Women in Sports PR’ panel aligns with our organization’s mission of shining a light on the contributions of women of color in communications, and connecting them with other like-minded individuals. We want attendees to be enlightened and inspired as these four dynamic women discuss what it takes to thrive in such a competitive industry.”

The evening will start off with a networking reception and the panel discussion will follow. Refreshments will be there and giveaways will be raffled off to attendees.
