Nicholas George Papp, age 75, died on October 7, 2015, at his home in the Bent Tree Community, Jasper, GA, after a year-long struggle with Lung Cancer.
He was born February 10, 1940, In Cleveland, OH, to Irene Sabonya and Nicholas V. Papp. An only child, he grew up in the Cleveland area and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1958, and in 1970 received a B.S. in Physics with Minors in Chemistry and Math, from Baldwin-Wallace College, in Berea, OH.
He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Grell, in 1958, in Cleveland, OH, they had four children, and were later divorced. He married Dr. Rita Thomas Noel, in 2011, in Calloway Gardens, GA.
He was the President and General Manager of Aqua Solutions Inc., located in Jasper, GA, manufacturers of ultra-pure water purification systems for research and development laboratories. He had worked in the water filtration/purification industry for more than 35 years.
He was a member of the Jasper Roundhouse, and the Golden Isles Model Railroad, and has been involved in model railroading since childhood. His interests and collection includes the Pennsylvania Railroad, The Nickel Plate, and The New York Central. He was modeling the Toledo, OH, area during the late 50s.
He has been an avid golfer and played with the Men’s Golf Association in Bent Tree and at Sea Palms in St. Simons Island. He is a member of the Pickens Star Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Thomas Noel, and four children, Chris Papp, Jasper, GA; Dena (Barry) Eckman, Cleveland, OH; Scott (Eleanore) Papp of Medina, OH; and Duane (Dianne) Papp of Jasper, GA. He is also survived by five step-children: Jeffrey (Karin) Thomas of Overland Park, KS; Shelley (Jesus) Moreno of The Colony, TX; Mark (Cindy) Thomas of Portland, OR; Stacey Dilleshaw of St. Mary’s, GA; and Susan Thompson of Salt Lake City, UT; Seven grandchildren, Thomas, Bryan, and Rachel Broa; Hannah and Leah Papp; and Michael and Kyrie Papp; twenty-five step-grandchildren; and 18 step-great grandchildren.
His viewing is on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home and interment will be in Lake Forest Memorial Park, Jasper, GA.
