Mrs. Lois Cowart Kelley, age 91 of Ball Ground, GA died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Canton Nursing Center in Canton, GA.

Lois was born February 16, 1924 in Marble Hill, GA to the late Joe Brown Cowart and Nora Darby Cowart.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Willie Hubert Kelley, and 6 siblings: John, Mary, Grace, Mamie, Pauline, and Thelma.

Lois graduated from Pickens County High School in 1941 and later Marsh Business School in Atlanta. During WW II and prior to the birth of her son she worked in the bookkeeping department of Write Right Paper Company. Lois and Hubert were founding members of the Lakeview Baptist Church in East Atlanta and active in various church ministries over many years.

Survivors include her son, Mike Kelley (Patty) of Atlanta; grandson, John Kelley (Trish) of Roswell and great-grandson, Joe Kelley; brothers-in-law, Clarence Barnes (Pauline) and J.B. Ridings (Thelma); several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Jarrett officiating. Interment will follow in Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Roper Funeral Home from 11:00am until the funeral hour on Tuesday.

Special thanks to the caring staff and leadership of Comfort Keepers of Cumming, GA, as well as Joe Jennings of Ball Ground, who made-it-possible for Lois to continue living independently in her home. Thanks as well to the end-of-life support and guidance of Hospice.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice, 70 Caring Way, Jasper, GA 30143.

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory in Jasper, GA.
