Dragons Struggle In Loss To Dawson

Yesterday evening, the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the Tigers of Dawson County in a non-region contest. This was the 2nd of a home & home series between the two schools.

 

In the 1st quarter, things started back and forth. Dawson County was able to take control by the end of the quarter, leading this one, 16-7 after one. In the 2nd quarter, shots were not falling for the Dragons. The Tigers used a 10-2 quarter run to build a 26-9 lead going into the break.

 

The 3rd quarter was a close frame. Dawson County barely outscored Pickens 9-8, but still maintained a 35-17 lead going to the 4th and final quarter. In the 4th, it was all Tigers. Dawson County used a 24-4 run to seal the win, 59-21.

 

Leading the way for the Dragons were:

Trent Rizoti: 5 points & 7 rebounds

Tyler Garner: 4 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, & 1 steal

Seth Bishop: 4 points, & 2 rebounds

Chase Simmons added 3 points, Sam Davis had 2 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, & a steal, Luke Smith had 2 points, Holden Roop had 3 assists, 1 rebound, & 1 steal.

 

The Dragons will now have the rest of the week off to get prepared for the annual Pickens Holiday Classic Tournament. The tournament will go from Monday through Wednesday and the Dragons tip offs are all scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
