Mr. David Nash Kumnick: Obituary
Obituaries January 12, 2016Mr. David Nash Kumnick, age 73, of Bent Tree; Jasper, Georgia passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at his residence.
David was born July 19, 1942 to Frederick and Sarah Nash Kumnick in Youngstown, Ohio. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later graduated from Youngstown State University on the GI Bill. He worked in business administration and sales throughout his working career.
However, what better defined our “Poppy” was his love and connection to his family, community and faith. He was actively involved in several churches over the years including, most recently, Browns Bridge Community Church. Humble and generous, he was committed in service to others, most notably as a longtime volunteer with his local meals on wheels program. And how fortunate is the dog who lives in the Bent Tree Community because of David’s efforts in the development of their beautiful dog park.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Kumnick of Bent Tree (Jasper); son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Jennifer Kumnick of Sandy Springs; son, Richard Kumnick of Smyrna, daughter and son-in-law, Eve and Neal Anthony of Athens; grandchildren Lily Anthony and Arthur Kumnick; brother, James Kumnick; and sister, Roberta Pocos. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives survive.
Best described by his granddaughter, “our Poppy was wonderful, awesome, playful, kind, and loving.” He will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown’s Bridge Community Church. There will be a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David’s name to the Pickens Senior Center Council – 400 Stegall Drive; Jasper, GA 30143.
Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper, Georgia.
