Miss Lois Irene Poole, age 95, of Jasper, passed away at Grandview Health Care Center on Saturday, June 25, 2016. Lois was born on June 30, 1920 to Dolph Sherman and Rora Mae Moss Poole. Miss Poole spent several years at the Warm Springs Roosevelt Center for the Blind which enabled her to work at Pickens Technical School from the early 1970s until the late 1980s.
She is survived by her sisters, Betty and Ray Ferrell of Jasper, Hazel Mullinax of Jasper, Cora Bell Chastain of Gainesville; and brother, Charlie Poole of Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Dolph and Rora Mae Poole; brothers, Bob, Lanier and Leo Poole; and nephew, Charles Poole.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 27 at County Line Baptist Church with Reverend Jess Posey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Miss Poole was a charter member of County Line Baptist Church.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Miss Poole will lie in state from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at the church.
