Bonnie Ray, age 89, of Jasper, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 at home. She was born April 23, 1927 to Harley and Hattie Hamrick in Pickens County.
She was involved with 4-H from the time she was a child until just a few years ago. She was a District Volunteer Leader and a State Volunteer Leader for 4-H. She was an active member of Hinton United Methodist Church and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ray. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melvina and Ron Carlan of Jasper; granddaughter, Beth and Corey Watson of Talking Rock; great-grandchildren, Colin Watson of Talking Rock, Conner Watson of Talking Rock. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Hinton United Methodist Church with Reverend Jerry Gleason, Reverend Jim Schlict, and Reverend Sharon Watkins officiating. Interment will be at Hinton Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 and from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hinton United Methodist Church or Pickens County 4-H Club.
Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper, Georgia.
