Sadie Jane (Whitten) Hicks, age 83, of Jasper passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 after a short illness.

Jane was born on March 31, 1933 in Anderson, South Carolina, but soon moved to Roswell, Georgia where she grew up and went to school with her future husband, James T. Hicks.  They were blessed to celebrate 66 years of marriage before he preceded her in death last year.

She enjoyed spending time with her family.  She loved caring for her cats, flowers, and feeding the birds.  She especially enjoyed bluegrass music, bargain shopping, and was intrigued with natural approaches to wellness.  She loved the Lord and believed in the power of prayer.

Survivors include her five children, Carol Padgett, Wayne and Donna Hicks, Annette Wright, Barry and Terri Hicks, and Andrea Hicks.  Also, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren survive.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Purcell officiating.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
