Mr. Samuel James Whitley, age 53, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.  He was born June 24, 1963 to Silas J. and Joyce Whitley in Tate.

Sam is survived by his mother, Joyce Whitley of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in- law, Sandy and Larry Bean of Albertville, Alabama, Lynn and Mike Hoskins of Talking Rock; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Rachel Whitley of Jasper; two nieces and two nephews.  Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Silas Whitley.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Brother Ricky Dean officiating.  Interment will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Roper Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Friendship Baptist Church.
