Wilbur Newman, age 90, died on May 7, 2017 in Jasper, Georgia.

Wilbur was a WWII veteran, serving in the Navy. After the war he attended the University of South Carolina on a football scholarship where he received a BS in Accounting.

He was a founding partner of Newman-Penter-James, Co, Inc., working in the lighting and electrical equipment business.

Wilbur was married to Jean P. Newman for 63 years until her death on October 4, 2015. He is survived by a daughter Pam Mengert, sons Bruce and Brad, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

An avid golfer, he was a member of East Lake Country Club and Bent Tree Country Club.

A celebration of Wilbur’s life will be held on Saturday, May 13th at 11:00am at Fellowship Presbyterian Church, 389 Bent Tree Drive, Jasper Georgia.
