Dragons Fall To Bruins, Take to the Road To Close Out 2017

We had Monday Night Basketball prior to Monday Night Football last night as the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the Northwest Whitfield Bruins in region action. The Dragons, were coming off a close, tough loss to Ridgeland on Friday & looked to end the home portion of 2017 on a good note.

 

The opening quarter, saw high paced action and the Dragons jump out in front of the Bruins. Pickens, would take a 20-16 lead over Northwest Whitfield going to the 2nd. The 2nd quarter, the Bruins got things working for them on both ends. Northwest Whitfield, used a 19-7 quarter run to take a 35-27 lead over the Dragons going to the break.

 

In the 3rd, it was like the 1st quarter as both teams went back and forth trading buckets. The Bruins outscored Pickens barely in the frame, 21-20 to extend their lead going to the 4th, 56-47. A 20-15 run in the 4th quarter helped Northwest Whitfield close it out as they took this on 76-62.

 

Leading the way for the Dragons were:

Seth Bishop: 17 points, 3 assists, 11 rebounds, & 1 steal

Joseph Gossett: 17 points, 1 assist, 4 rebounds, & 3 steal

Chase Simmons: 11 points, 1 assist, 6 rebounds, & 1 steal

Keinyuan Hooks: 10 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, & 4 steals

Zach Goss: 6 points, 1 assist, & 2 rebounds

 

The Dragons, will turn into road warriors to close out the 2017 portion of the schedule. First up, a Thursday night match up with the Union County Panthers in non region action. Tip off scheduled for 8:30 pm.
