JASPER, Ga.- Cove Road is currently closed due to a landslide. Picken’s County Sheriff’s Office requests that travelers please use either McClain Mountain Road or Grandview Road.
City Officials have met with a Geostabilization Engineer this morning to conduct a preliminary assessment of the situation on Cove Road.
The engineer will be conferring with their counterparts to provide an evaluation to City Officials so that a determination can be made on what measures to take to mitigate further issues that could occur. The unknown elements of the situation necessitates that the road remain closed until further notice.
Crews from both the City of Jasper and Pickens County Road Departments have done an outstanding job removing debris from the road. The issue is with what is still hanging overhead. They are working to ensure that it is safe before reopening and have additional crews responding.
Please allow additional time for detour routes in the morning.
Cove Road at the S Curves has been blocked by a rock slide. Please use either McClain Mountain Road or Grandview Road.
