Senior Mykenzie Weaver was named the Region 6-4A Player of the Year.

Senior Sarah Morris was named to the Region 6-4A All-Region Team.

Two members of the Pickens Dragonettes basketball team have been named to the Region 6-4A All-Region Team as voted on by the region coaches.

Mykenzie Weaver was named the Region 6-4A Player of the Year after a spectacular senior campaign, while Sarah Morris, also a senior, was named as a guard to the All-Region Team after a great final year of high school.

Weaver averaged 25 points per game this season, while shooting 45.2 percent from the floor. She also shot 37.6 percent from beyond the arc and 66.3 percent from the free-throw line. Weaver netted 112 rebounds in 25 games, added 17 assists, 45 deflections, 70 steals, three blocks, and a charge for the Dragonettes this season.

Morris averaged 11.4 points per game in 25 games played, while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor. From beyond the arc, Morris shot 25 percent and from the free-throw line, she averaged 66.7 percent. Morris pulled down 123 rebounds, added 22 assists, had 38 deflections, 28 steals, four blocks, and drew three charges for Pickens.

The Dragonettes (18-8) defeated Southeast Whitfield (6-20) in the first round of the Region 6-4A tournament yesterday, Feb. 4, to qualify for the Class 4A state tournament. They will face Northwest Whitfield (19-7) at 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, at Southeast Whitfield Co. in the Region 6-4A semifinals.,
