School Closings

Started Wednesday, March 25, all schools will be on “hard lock-out.” Only employees with permission will be allowed inside.

Pickens County Schoolsare closed through March 31

Buses will deliver non-perishable food on Mondays and Thursdays. Children must be present at the stop to

receive these free meals. You can pick up meals at any location, regardless of where you live in the county.

Government Closings

Appalachian Judical Circuit (Pickens, Gilmer and Fannin): all non-emergency court continued for 30 days.

Administrative Office will be closed to the public through March 27. Departments and employees will be available by phone and email. Drop boxes are available to pay taxes and water bills.

Jail visitation: limited to telephone and video visitaion. This does not apply to attorney visitations.

Recreation department: closed.

Senior Citizens Center: closed

Library: closed.

Business Closings:

Walmart: 6 a.m.-11 p.m.

Kroger: 8 a.m.-9p.m.

Dollar General: 8 a.m.-9 p.m. The first hour is open to senior citizens only.
