Psalm 18:16-19 “He sent from on high; he took me; he drew me out of many waters. He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support. He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.”
In all of earth’s six billion people, you see us as individuals, O Lord. Everything about our faith is personal. Even in a crowd on a busy street in a city of millions, or in a sanctuary filled with worshippers you see us as persons. You can discern what is in every heart.
From on high you came to earth in Jesus to give love and to help us to love amid hatred. Like David, your servants today are hated for what they believe and do and this causes dangerous situations. But you are our support and we are filled with courage to boldly take our stand.
As we delight in our children you delight in us. As we seek to do the best for them, you do what is best for us. Thank you for bringing us out into an enlarged place where your blessings are bestowed in Christ.
Amen.
