The Pickens High School annual football banquet was held at the Jasper Chattahoochee Tech campus. First year PHS head man, Chris Parker, began the festivities with an acknowledgment of the event’s sponsor, Regions Bank.Parker then recognized the coaches, administrators, parents, teachers, and a variety of special contributors to the program. Parker spoke briefly about each group, pointing out how each part of the Pickens program contributed to the community of Dragons’ football.

During dinner, the student athletes were rewarded both varsity letters and individual awards. The cheerleaders were recognized first.

Parker then pointed out that picking awards previously was not a part of his program; however, he did not want to do injustice to the history of the Pickens program. Parkers’ stance comes from the belief that all success is team success.

Parker and his staff allowed the team itself to choose the Team Captains; Golden Helmet; and Jim Locke Award. The Iron Man and Academic Award were based solely on merit. All Pickens players who participated throughout the season were awarded varsity letters.
