Business, Community, Featured Stories, News May 18, 2012 , by LT MeltonThe Zaxby’s on Bill Wigington Parkway, across from Kroger, caught fire. The fire began in the kitchen early morning. The fire appears to be accidental; however, it can not be ruled as such until the state completes an investigation.FYN spoke with Pickens County Fire Department Captain Randy Banks.
“This morning at 0900 we were phased out to a fire alarm at this location on Bill Wigington Parkway, which later would be found to be Zaxby’s. The first arriving units on the scene noticed smoke coming out of the structure the B and C sides of the building. Units resumed (making) sure everybody was out of the building. We talked to the manager on duty, and every one was out, but we later found out that one had been transported by personal vehicle to Mountainside for some burns.”
Banks was unsure of the injuries or their extent.
Banks continued,
“All units arrived on the scene, started an interior attack. There is serious damage through the kitchen area of the business. The fire is still under investigation but it appears to be accidental. We have the state fire marshal on the way to come up and do their investigation to find the cause of the fire.”
The fire appeared to badly damage the kitchen and the drive through.
