Pickens Picks Up Five in Area Duals Tournament

The Pickens Dragons wrestling team traveled to Cedartown High School to take part in the 7-AAAA Area Duals tournament. The Dragons managed to win a total of five individual matches in losses in the first round of the tournament and the consolation round.Pickens picked up a 48-18 loss in the first round. However, the 18 total points all came via pin.

Tim Crenshaw recorded a pin at the 120lbs weight class. Dylan Nelson picked up a pin directly after Crenshaw at 126, and Jesse Stevens followed Nelson with a pin at 132.

The first round of the consolation wrestle backs bracket saw the Dragons face the Catamounts of Dalton. The “Cats” caught fire, extinguishing the Dragons 60-10.

The 10 points cave via forfeit at 106 taken by Victoria Haughwout, worth six points, and Crenshaw picked up a major win, eight points or more, at 120 again for a 2-0 record in the tournament.

The Dragons will next take part in the Wildcat Rumble at Lovejoy High School on January 18th and 19th.
