Lady Bulldogs Bite “Nettes” on “Senior Night”: 1-0
Festivals, Team FYN Sports October 1, 2013
The Pickens High School Dragonettes softball team hosted the Cedartown Lady Bulldogs. The game was also the annual “Senior Night” celebration, when the lone “Nettes’” senior, Olivia LeMieux, was honored. The “Nettes” got nixed by the Lady Dogs in a 1-0 pitchers’ duel.Shortly after the junior varsity “Nettes” fell to the JV squad from Cedartown, 2-1, with the one run coming via an RBI double from Savannah Ebinger that scored McKayla Smith in the bottom of the fourth, the varsity game got underway.
The Lady Bulldogs bit early, scoring a run after on a passed ball, in the first inning. The run proved to be enough for the visitors to secure a win, as neither team was able to muster much offensive production throughout the night.
Starting pitcher, Kayla Howard, pitched all seven innings with five strike outs and no earned runs, the Cedartown base runner who scored, reached base via error.
After the game the “Nettes’” lone senior, centerfielder Olivia LeMieux, was honored by the team in a brief ceremony.
