Nettes Fall in Tough Game To Kennesaw Mountain

Yesterday, the Nettes varsity basketball team hosted the Lady Mustangs of Kennesaw Mountain in second day of the Pickens Holiday Classic. The Lady Mustangs are out of 6A and Pickens is in the 4A classification. The Nettes, after getting a win over Riverwood on Saturday, looked to continue their better play lately against these Lady Mustangs.The first quarter of this one was very much back and forth. The Nettes jumped out first but then the Lady Mustangs made their run to end the quarter with the lead, 14-12. The second quarter saw more of the same between the two teams as they were evenly matched in the first half. Pickens outscored Kennesaw Mountain 8-7 to cut the Lady Mustangs lead to 21-20 at halftime.
Kennesaw Mountain came out in the third quarter and stretched their lead out as they outscored Pickens 16-9 going to the fourth and final quarter. The Nettes cut the Lady Mustangs lead down to 6 a couple of times in the fourth but were unable to to complete the comeback. Kennesaw Mountain outscored Pickens in the fourth, 15-12 to seal the win, 52-41.
Pickens is now 6-8 on the season

Haley Kalson: 15 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals
Autumn Young: 6 points, and 4 rebounds
Ashley Nelson: 6 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal
Paula Pickett: 6 points, and 2 rebounds
Shelby Cook: 4 points, and 4 rebounds
Mackenzie Hampton: 4 points, and 2 assists
Makayla Payne dished 3 assists and grabbed 2 rebounds and Taylor Wigington handed out 2 assists and pulled in 3 rebounds
Pickens will close the Holiday Classic with a match up against the Collins Hill Lady Eagles later today at 6 pm in the new gym
