Last Saturday, the Dragons varsity basketball team made the trip up 515 to Blue Ridge to take on the Rebels of Fannin in non region play. Pickens, who has suffered several losses in close games as of late, looked to pick up a road win as they begin the final stretch towards the end of the regular season.The first quarter was back and forth until the Rebels got control and took the lead 14-7 to end the first. Fannin outscored the Dragons in the second quarter 14-10 as they held an 11 point lead at the break. In the second half, Pickens wouldn’t go quietly.
The Dragons offense came alive in the third quarter as they outscored the Rebels 19-14 to cut the Fannin lead to 42-36 going to the fourth and final quarter. The Rebels would take control in the fourth however outscoring Pickens 18-7 to seal the win, 60-43. The Dragons now find themselves 10-8 overall and 2-5 in region play.

Shannon Brooks: 16 points, 1 assist, 7 rebounds, and a steal
Luke Smith: 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal
Joseph Gossett: 5 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and a steal
Blake Gorth scored 3 points, dished an assist, and grabbed 5 rebounds
An Important week region wise for the Dragons starts tonight as they host the Ramblers of LaFayette. Pickens will be looking for a season split with the Ramblers. Tip off scheduled for 7:30.
